A New Error
The Mekano Set : Making No Sense
It was the end of a pretty intense year for The Meks. Highlights for me include playing Concorde 2 feeling like something was going to literally explode. Plus playing CuBar for Beth's birthday and getting Curve to do her a 'special CD'. And Andy and Lisa and Nige turned up and I felt almost normal. What else was good? Patrick's birthday was also good, hanging out for a couple of solid days in London feeling like a real band. And of course the Curve / DogLab mix.
I guess it's funny that some of the best gigs of the year were right on our doorstep {literally, in the case of The Providence gigs}.
Special thanks to all of you who made it down to Brighton for our secret New Ears Even gig. Personally, I'm still recovering.
We were later reliably informed that the police were pretty much waiting outside all night - but as there was no trouble - it really was all a formality. A 'FRONT' some might say... Not that I don't have bruises. And we all have singed clothing!?
The night ended with Beth doing her usual free-form bit... in the bathroom, with Patrick playing his bass... against the bars of the balcony. I think I headed for the beach with the song still playing - in my head at least...
{Miss Garfield / The Saint}
Traditional Russian / Armenian folk music. A perhaps slightly too Leningrad Cowboys heavy DJ set from Saint. Swiss Mekanoid tinged GirlGroup action from The Redettes. Moscow Mules all round. Moet and Carva and Russian cigarettes on the beach. Amazing Russian soup for breakfast.
Again, I have to say that there was no real trouble. We're all still on speaking terms, we all slept in the same corner of the Kremlin under the same duvet, singed T-shirts, sweaty feet and all, and our only real regret is that we didn't record the entire thing. On phongraph and in gloriously scratchy Zero-Lux monochrome 16 mil.

Anyway, here's to an even more productive and fun one!
